Pandit Shyam Kane is a senior Tabla player of the Punjab Gharana and is most recognized for being the first and foremost disciple of Utd. Zakir Hussain as also a student of Utd. Alla Rakha. Pt. Kane has taught Tabla at San Diego State University and the Ali Akbar School of Music in California. He frequently performs and conducts workshops alongside his guru, Utd. Zakir Hussain and has also provided accompaniment to Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Utd. Ali Akbar Khan, Smt. N. Rajam, L. Subramaniam among others. Pt. Kane is a highly respected name in the field of music and is known for his versatility and accompaniment skills. He is currently based in Dayton, Ohio and mentors a lot of musicians in US and India
